Soft booking as a feature introduces two types of allocations. Confirmed allocations are the ones you have been used to. Tentative ones are something that is not yet 100% sure. It could be a planned extension of the project that is sort of a prospect at this moment, but it sure is a case thats needs to be prepared for.



Tentative allocations are visualized with slightly different coloring in allocations.



Milestone report

On project allocations view there is new graph visualizing project milestones. This gives quick glance on where your projects are at this moment.


FTE - FullTimeEquivalent

Is a new allocation unit that represents how many fulltime workers are required to do the job in this particular timerange.

Fulltime worker's daily working hours are not neccesarily the same as certain person's dayload.

New People -> Listing report

People -> Listing report has been changed to a list of Silverbucket users' basic metadata. Old version included less metadata and summary of person's allocations. Now the Allocations report shows all the data related to allocations, including the summary and detailed view of allocations.

Performance improvements for Allocations reports

Allocations reports (People and Projects) has new functions and performance improvements. Most notable changes are: result lists pagination functions, new grouping for persons/projects allocations, most used functions can be found by hovering the person's/project's name with the mouse, new select all function and grouping unassigned role allocations. 


New fields for person: Site and Cost center

Persons' have two new metadata fields: Site and Cost center. These fields can be currently filled in and modified through the Add/Edit person dialog. Later these fields will be added to the Person's dashboard.


Possibility to export person's capacity

Main people (Listing and Allocations) reports can now be configured to include person's capcity as another person list in the exported Excel file.


SYNC center

New Silverbucket data synchronisation center has been introduced. This can be accessed with the Top navigation bar contect menu (ellipsis icon in Top navigation bar) SYNC-link.


More metadata fields to Add a new project dialog

When adding a new project to the Silverbucket, it is now possible to expand the dialog to show all project metadata fields and fill in also fields which are not mandatory.


Main reports Excel export time range selection and other settings

When exporting date to Excel format from the main reports, it is possible to select the amount of rows exported and the start and end date for the export.

System update notifications

Silverbucket system will now inform users when the system has been updated. When user logs in to the Silverbucket a notification will be shown about the system update. This notification will include a link to this release notes document from where users can check more information of the new features and improvements.


New metadata External for Unassigned roles

Unassigned roles can now be marked as External. More information can be found from the User Manual.


New Competency Management

Starting from the May 2018 version Silverbucket does have a totally new way of managing person's competencies. Old skills are automatically migrated to competencies during this update. Competencies now have different competency levels and categories with hierarchy. It is possible to filter persons based on competencies and find the right person for an unnamed project role based on role competency requirements. More information can be found from the User Manual.


Restricting access to financial figures

Long anticipated feature is now here: it is possible to define which user level is able to see financial data in Silverbucket. Contact support if you are interested in turning this feature on in your environment.

People allocations report Excel export

People allocations report now has a button for exporting the data to Excel format.


Passive projects on Person's dashboard

On Person's dashboard there is a new selection "show only ongoing projects"/"Show also archived projects". With selection it is possible to choose if the Dashboard shows only active or also passive projects.


< not set > selection in project category filter

Project portfolio and Project allocations reports now include a new type of filtering. In Project category filter it is possible to select special < not set > value. When this is selected the report contains all the projects which do not have any category selected.


Classic resourcing view

Responding to feedback regarding the new user interface a Classic resourcing view has been introduced. More detailed information can be found from the User Manual.


Classic report filters

Main People reports (Listing and Allocations) have new grouping for Person and Project type filters. For example in Person type filters the selection of person employment type has been grouped so that one of the two options has to be always selected: Own or Externals. Before it was possible to unselect both options and all the persons were filtered out from the report, because every person is either Own or External.


Simple filters

Main People reports (Listing and Allocations) now include a new filter mode: Simple filters. Simplified filters can be used in most of the basic reporting use cases. For more advanced filtering needs the Advanced filters mode can be used.


More information when adding persons to a project

Add to a project dialog now includes information of the person's roles in the current project. More information can be viewed from the User manual.

API for timesheet

New API has been published for handling the Timesheet data. It is now possible to create, read, update and delete person's timesheet records. Documentation of the API can be found from this link.


Selecting favorite tasks in Time sheet

User can now select which tasks are always shown in the time sheet by clicking the Select tasks to timesheet link.


Saving personal settings to the database

Personal settings and main reports filtering settings are now stored to the Silverbucket's database. These settings are automatically saved and when user logs in to the Silverbucket next time the same settings are loaded from the database.


First set of optimisations to speed up heavy views

There has been some reports of long loading times in some views in the system. First quick optimizations has been published to speed up the loading of these views. In the following versions we are publishing more optimizations to keep the user experience as pleasent as possible.


New type of user Future talent

When creating new users to the Silverbucket it is possible to add new metadata for the user Future talent. These users are same kind of users than normal users. They can be allocated and they capacity shows in the total capacity. Future talents can be distinguished from other users in the main people reports with corresponding filter. Future talents are used for recruitment planning.


Primary and secondary organisation in filters

In some reports there are two organisation filters. All reports which have an organisation filter are now changed to support primary and secondary organisation filter. Organisation filter selection is copied between the reports so when selecting primary organisation filter in one report the same organisation is selected when opening some other report with a primary organisation filter.


Icon changes in top navigation bar

There is a new icon Ellipsis (vertical) in the top right hand corner in the Silverbucket's user interface. This icon replaces the old Gear icon for opening the Top navigation context menu.

Gear icon is now reused for the Personal configurations in the Top navigation bar and the old Sliders icon has been removed.


New and changed user interface settings

Personal configurations has changed to include to sections: Event settings and User interface settings.

Event settings inlclude settings for data change notifications.

User interface settings has four settings for fine tuning the behaviour of the Silverbucket's user interface. New selection Huge has been added to the Amount of resourcing slots and to the Amount of resources.


Risk realisation and notification icons

Project portfolio report (from the menu Projects->Listing) lists the risks for the projects. Now the Risk summary matrix includes two new icons: Comment and Bell. Comment icon is shown if the risk has a note and Comments icon if there is multiple notes for the risk. Bell icon is shown if the risk is realized.

Dynamic risk definition and adding risks to project dashboard

It is now possible to change the default risks in Silverbucket. There is no administration tools for this and one should contact the Silverbucket support if changes to these are needed. Risks are shown in project's dashboard also.

Excel export of Project -> Allocations view can be configured to export desired fields of the project data.


Notification settings

Notification settings have been moved from the Notifications UI to Personal settings dialog. Notifications can be mark as read by clicking the notification.

New settings Amount of resources and Tight layout

Silverbucket allocations engine has been made significantly more efficient and this made it possible to show more data to the users. User settings (accessed with the settings icon from the main toolbar at the right side of Navigate field) now include two new settings: Tight layout and Amount of resources. Tight layout fine tunes the user interface layout to fit more data in the same space allowing users to view larger quantities of allocations with one glance. Amount of resources setting controls the amount of persons or projects that are shown initially when selecting different views. Also the amount of rows loaded with a one click of the Show more link is controlled with this same setting.


Person's invoiced actuals on dashboard

Person's dashboard Allocation graph now include two actuals lines. One is showing the total number of reported hours and the other line is showing the amount of hours reported that are marked as billable.


Notification handling improvements

Notifications can now be dismissed by clicking them and notifications are shown only once. Notification history can be viewed from the Events page (accessed with the number icon from the main navigation bar).


New version of the Time sheet

Time sheet was redone in the September's version. In December's version Time sheet functionality has been fine tuned in accordance with the feedback that was collected from the previous version. Main improvements include tighter user interface layout to fit more data on screen, clear Back to week mode link in Day mode and possibility to move between fields using the TAB key.
